Spotlight on the All-New 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet Traverse 2018

The Chevrolet Traverse first came to us in 2009 after debuting at the ‘08 Chicago Auto Show as a beefy full-size crossover SUV to succeed a wealth of GM products including the Uplander, Trailblazer, HHR, and Astro van.

Sharing a chassis and general platform with the GMC Acadia and the Buick Enclave, the first generation Traverse was all about filling a void – and it did that very well – but all-new for 2018, the second generation model makes a name for itself as a stunning and capable family-mover, and an aggressively styled statement-maker with tech, safety, space, efficiency, and good looks mixed into a flawless equation.

Here’s our take on the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse:

Style & Comfort

Boldy redesigned for 2018 to suit a fresh new identity and character, the Traverse is a daring 8-passenger people-mover with some serious style. The sleek-lined windows and flat-top roofline are quintessential SUV classics, while the geometrically accented grille and plush interior give the Traverse undeniable style points that innovate and progress the segment forward. Available leather seats and premium stitching help the Traverse usher in a sense of luxury commonly reserved for more expensive models.

Factor in luxurious and thoughtful premium features like the Dual SkyScrape 2-panel power sunroof, power-folding third row seating and stylish D-Optic bi-function projector beam headlamps, and the Traverse transcends the crossover segment and extends its reach into luxury territory.

Further, the Traverse’s comfort and adaptability makes a bold statement in that it accentuates the capacity of the vehicle. Available Smart Slide seating allows the second-row to be moved and angled forward, helping backseat passengers attain easy access to the third-row.

Safety & Technology

The ‘18 Traverse comes littered with useful and practical safety options like forward collision alert, rear-cross traffic alert, lane change alert, side blind zone alert, and rear park assist, rounding out a 360 degree assault on safety and spacial awareness, helping drivers to maximize their awareness of their surroundings. Available lane-departure assist warnings, front-end pedestrian braking, and forward automatic braking help create a buffer around the Traverse dedicated to keeping occupants safe and cared for.

The innovative Chevy Teen-driver mode helps develop responsible drivers by combining many features into one comprehensive system dedicated to maintaining young driver safety. From muting the stereo until seatbelts are fastened, to automatically turning on the forward-alert braking feature, the system protects new drivers from accidents while alerting and sustaining a learning environment geared towards driver development.

There’s no shortage of available tech in the Traverse, either. The Traverse is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and features available 4G LTE Wi-fi connectivity for up to seven devices to keep the family connected during life’s many journey’s. Coupled with the proficiency of the myChevrolet app that’s capable of connecting drivers to their vehicles from virtually anywhere, drivers are privy to a sense of unrivalled integration.

Capability

Did we mention cargo space? The 2018 Traverse packs a best-in-class, cavernous 98.5 cu. ft of max cargo volume, making room for everything from the weekly grocery run and school pick-ups, to weekend landscaping errands and hockey practice.

Power is on hand as well in the Traverse. Powered by either a standard 3.6L V6 that develops 305 horsepower and towing capability of up to 5,000 pounds – or a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that cranks out an impressive and peppy 255 horsepower and 295 lb/ft of torque, Traverse drivers can make bold moves that help them get where they need to be. Other available features include an advanced twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system for improved traction, and intelligent auto start-stop technology for increased fuel efficiency. Paired to a standard, silky-smooth 9-speed automatic transmission, this combination of power and capability are undeniably Chevy.

The all-new Chevrolet Traverse makes a name for itself when it comes to an unbridled combination of power, capability, efficiency, and utility. What drivers choose to do with this intoxicating blend of features is limitless, and represents a growing Chevy brand that’s dedicated to putting family fun first.
