First introduced in 1991 as the K5 Blazer, the full size 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe LT has become a staple of American-bred power, comfort, refinement, and sport utility. The 2018 model year is the most advanced Tahoe yet, benefiting from Chevrolet’s renewed dedication to fuel efficiency, utility, and user-friendly amenities.
In this post, we’re placing the spotlight on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe LT and all of the special features that make it the crowd-pleaser it’s been for the last two decades.

History
The Chevy Tahoe began life in 1991 to be introduced for the 1992 model year as the K5 Blazer, a 2-door full size SUV based on the same GMT400 platform as its longer Suburban cousin and Silverado brethren. Named after the iconic California/Nevada Lake Tahoe, the model had sport utility, performance, and fun in the crosshairs since day one. In 1995 Chevy, and GMC, who released the similar Yukon, introduced a 4-door model in 1995, when the 2-door original was discontinued.
Powering the original iteration was a behemoth 5.7L 350 cubic inch small block V8, with an optional 6.5L turbo diesel introduced in 1994. The luxurious LT package began its life in 1994 as well, featuring a revised interior, automatic transmission, and a revised Vortec V8 with electronic 4WD shifting. Marketed to adrenaline-seeking young professionals and adventure-seekers, the Tahoe was uniquely suited to transitional lifestyles that could accommodate children, groceries, and pets as much as it could snowboarding, camping, and weekend backcountry traversing.
Major revisions and facelifts ensued in 2000 and 2007, with the introduction of an innovative 6.0L hybrid V8 version in 2008, based on the GMT900 platform, which defied and exceeding predicted sales numbers despite a weakening market for full-size SUVs.
Style & Utility

Inside and out, the new 2018 Tahoe LT is basted in impressive refinement and athletic lines. The TAhoe has always been a beefy vehicle, but the short wheel base lends itself well to tight urban driving as much as it does highway cruising.

The LT package includes chrome assist steps, bright body side mouldings, polished exhaust tips, signature chrome grille inserts, chrome recovery hooks, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
New stylish cabin refinements comes insulated with an acoustic-laminated windshield with triple seals to help reduce excessive road noise. The Tahoe also is able to accommodate a massive 94.7 cu. Ft (2,682L) of maximum cargo space.

If you need more power than that, the RST Performance Package offers up a beefy 420 horsepower 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine, coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Tahoe is also equipped with an optional 2-speed Autotrac transfer case for 4WD applications, as well as hill descent control.
Technology & Safety
