Quick Facts: 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUVFeb 20th, 2021
GM’s commitment to electric vehicles is starting to take shape. From their change to a new logo to the development of the new BEV3 EV platform, the transition from gasoline to electric is happening now.
The latest full electric vehicle to join the lineup is the all-new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV. The Bolt EUV is a larger version of the standard Chevrolet Bolt EV - which itself is receiving an update for 2022. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV has more interior space and has more interior features than it’s smaller sibling.
The Bolt EUV utilizes the same battery technology as its Bolt EV little brother. A 65 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is situated under the floor of the Bolt EUV which provides power to a 200 hp & 266 lb-ft electric motor. Due to the extra weight of the 2022 Bolt EUV, the estimated range of the electric vehicle is 402 km.
Charging the Bolt EV & Bolt EUV can be done via level 1, 2 or 3 charging systems. The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV can add 160 km of range in just 30 minutes of DC level 3 fast charging. For the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV, it can add 152 km of range in the same time from a level 3 charging station. The Bolt EUV also comes equipped with a dual power charging cable which can allow owners to charge it from a regular 120 Volt power outlet or a 240 Volt power outlet if it’s available. This power cord is optional on the 2022 Bolt EV.
But charging from an electrical grid is not the only way to replenish the batteries. Both vehicles have Regen On Demand. Simply pull on the steering wheel mounted paddle and the car turns the kinetic motion into electrical energy for the batteries when slowing down. One Pedal Driving is another feature that is available on both EVs. Simply modulate the accelerator pedal to accelerate or lift your foot off it to slow down and come to a complete stop.
The 2022 Bolt EUV is just over 6-inches longer than the standard Bolt EV. However, height and width are almost identical. When owners will see the benefit of the extra length is in the back seats.
The Bolt EUV has 3-inches more legroom when compared to the regular Chevy Bolt EV. For those that have older kids or transport adults - for example Uber or Lyft services - the all-new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is a spacious and efficient electric vehicle.
The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is packed with the latest GM technologies. To start, it is the first Chevrolet vehicle with Super Cruise. This is an advanced adaptive cruise control system that was pioneered by Cadillac and it allows for hands-free driving on 320,000 km of roads throughout the United States & Canada. It should be noted that this is not a fully autonomous driving system; you still need to pay attention to the road when using the system.
The Bolt EUV features the same 10.2-inch infotainment screen and 8-inch driver instrument cluster as the current Bolt EV but the infotainment system is updated to the latest version as well, over the air updates are available. The system is also compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Spotify, and Amazon Alexa.
The 2022 Bolt EUV is also available with heated & ventilated front seats, heated rear seats & steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.
When it comes to safety & driver aids, the Bolt EUV has standard forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking & pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, and Intellibeam auto high beam headlights. Blind spot sensors, rear cross traffic alert, & surround view cameras are optional features.
The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV will be available in summer of 2021 and have a starting price of $33,995 USD.
