THE FIRST EVER
Electric pickup trucks are the next logical step towards a cleaner future. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is the first full-electric pickup truck from the bow-tie brand. Based on GM's Ultium battery technology, the Chevy Silverado EV is estimated to have a range of 640 km along with 660 hp.
KEY FEATURES
As one of the first of GM's next-generation EVs, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is powered by Ultium battery technology. The batteries are large-format, pouch-style cells, which can be stacked vertically or horizontally inside the battery pack. The next-generation battery technology allows the Chevy Silverado EV to have an estimated range of up to 640 km.
The RST First Edition will be available with up to 660 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque. This will be enough to propel the Silverado EV to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds according to GM. The lower trim Work Truck (WT) will have 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. To put that into perspective, the WT will have more power and torque than the gasoline powered Silverado with the 6.2L V8.
The battery can be recharged from DC fast chargers (level 3) of up to 350 kW capabilities. From powerful chargers such as those, the Silverado EV can add 160 km of driving range in as little as 10 minutes.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV benefits from the industry first Multi-Flex tailgate with 6 distinct functions.
- Normal operating tailgate
- A low-level tier load stop
- A second tier load stop
- A work bench
- A step into the bed
- Drop the inner gate for easier access into the bed
The Silverado EV also comes equipped with a Multi-Flex mid-gate. This turns the standard 5'11" length bed into a 10-foot length bed. It also features a 60/40 split which allows for long items but still have room for a passenger in the back.
With the power of the electric motors on tap, the Chevy Silverado EV is no slouch when it comes to towing. The Silverado RST has a tow rating of 10,000 lbs and a payload rating of 1,300 lbs. The Silverado EV WT will have slightly lower numbers of 8,000 lbs towing and 1,200 lbs payload.
However, after the initial launch, Chevrolet will introduce a fleet model with up to 20,000 lbs of towing. That's a tow rating that is more inline with heavy duty pickup trucks.
In addition to the new Ultium based battery and propulsion technology, the new Chevrolet Silverado EV is equipped with technology and advanced software that allows for easy updates over time.
Stepping inside the Chevy Silverado EV, you will find a 17-inch LCD infotainment screen and an 11-inch driver display. There is also a driver head-up display that offers a 14-inch field of view.
A major feature that will enable the Silverado EV to be up to date with current technologies is the first application of Ultifi. A new Linux-based software platform that was developed in-house by GM. This allows for rapid and frequent software updates that gives drivers the opportunity to evolve their vehicles over time, enhancing the capabilities of the vehicle and providing access to cloud services in the most flexible and efficient way possible.
AROUND THE SILVERADO EV
WIDE OPEN WATTS (WOW)
With electric motors powering the front and rear wheels, the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST can develop over 660 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque with the Wide Open Watts (WOW) drive mode. This allows the Silverado EV to accelerate up to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 4.5 seconds.
eTRUNK
Because the Silverado EV does not have a traditional engine, there is more space for cargo. With a lockable and water tight front trunk - Frunk - you can safely keep your valuables stored inside the truck away from prying eyes.
EFFICIENT DESIGN
The front of the Silverado EV has been designed to channel air down the side of the body, significantly reducing drag and turbulence. As a result, the Chevy Silverado EV is estimated to have one of the lowest drag coefficients of any available production full-size pickup trucks.
SPACE FOR ALL
The Chevrolet Silverado EV will be offered exclusively as a crew cab configuration. The second row is pushed rearwards which gives passengers over 6-feet tall plenty of leg space.
FIXED PANORAMIC ROOF
For the first time, a Chevrolet Silverado will be available with a panoramic fixed-glass roof. It allows for more light to enter the cabin giving the occupants a sense of openness. The tinted glass will also protect and filter against the sun's harsh rays.
REGEN ON DEMAND, ONE-PEDAL DRIVING
These features are both driver-controlled braking systems which can convert the kinetic energy of the truck's forward momentum into electricity stored in the vehicle's battery packs to maximize the driving range. With the pull of a steering wheel paddle, Regen on Demand can slow the vehicle to a full stop without pressing the brake pedal. Similarly, One-Pedal Driving can slow the vehicle to a full stop using the accelerator pedal providing very fine control.
SUPER CRUISE
The 2024 Silverado EV is equipped with the latest version of Super Cruise, which includes a new automatic lane changing feature, where the system can determine when a lane change is optimal and initiate the maneuver. Super Cruise is available on more than 320,000 km (200,000 miles) of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.
REAR WHEEL STEERING
The 4-wheel steer feature reduces the turning radius at lower speeds for greater maneuverability in parking lots. The rear wheels turn in the opposite direction at those slow speeds while at higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels. This provides greater stability and enhances handling, particularly when towing a trailer.
DIGITAL KEY
With the Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband-enabled Digital Key, owners will be able to use their smartphone as the key fob for their Silverado EV. The technology detects the owner’s phone and its location in proximity to the vehicle, enabling a number of passive operations such as approach lighting, entry unlock and vehicle operation.
CLEAR VISION
The Chevrolet Silverado EV's primary screen measures 17-inches diagonally. The updated infotainment system allows for wireless Apple CarPlay & wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and "Hey Google..." built-in services. The driver display measures at 11-inches diagonally and can be paired with a head-up display with a field of view of over 14-inches.
