The 2026 GMC Terrain is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 175 horsepower and up to 203 lb-ft of torque (AWD models). It features Dual Overhead Cam design, Variable Valve Timing (VVT), and Direct Injection for optimized power delivery and efficiency. Front-wheel-drive models use a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while AWD models pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Automatic Stop/Start technology and active aero shutters further enhance fuel efficiency and overall performance.

Truck-Inspired Design

The next-generation Terrain features a wider stance and bold proportions inspired by GMC’s truck lineup. A strong upright grille connects seamlessly with distinctive LED headlamps and taillamps, while available animated lighting on AT4 and Denali adds a premium touch. The model is nearly 53 mm wider than before, enhancing its planted look. Available options such as the first-ever two-tone roof and Elevation Black Edition with darkened accents further elevate its athletic and refined presence.

Cargo Space & Versatility

Terrain delivers excellent flexibility with a 60/40 split-folding second-row seat and up to 1,798 litres (63.5 cu. ft.) of maximum cargo capacity behind the first row. Cargo volume behind the second row reaches 843.9 litres (29.8 cu. ft.). The flat-folding seat design allows easy loading of larger items, while underfloor cargo storage keeps valuables concealed and organized. This practical layout ensures the Terrain is ready for commuting, road trips, and everyday hauling needs.

All-Wheel Drive & Drive Modes

Available switchable All-Wheel Drive enhances traction by automatically delivering torque to the rear wheels when needed, then disengaging to improve efficiency in FWD mode. AWD models include an 8-speed automatic transmission and Hill Descent Control. Drivers can select from Normal and Snow modes on FWD models, while AWD adds Off-Road mode and AT4-exclusive Terrain Mode. The system continuously monitors traction conditions to optimize control on wet, snowy, or uneven roads.
