1.5L turbocharged I-4 w/ VVT, Direct Injection, & Auto Start/Stop technology. With an estimated fuel consumption rating of 7.7 L/100km highway, the 1.5L turbo engine is a powerfully efficient choice. 170 hp, 203 lb-ft of torque, 6-speed automatic transmission.
With the rear seats folded, a virtually flat load floor is created with up to 1,798 L (63.5 cu. ft.) of cargo capacity.
The kneeling feature on the rear seat lets the 60/40 split folding rear seat lay almost completely flat with only an angle of 3 degrees. There is a sub-floor compartment for an additional 79 litres (2.8 cu. ft.) of underfloor rear cargo storage.
For added convenience, rear-seat release levers on LT and Premier models are located on the passenger side of the cargo area.
AROUND THE EQUINOX
ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTERS
Shutters close at high speeds to help enhance aerodynamics. Shutters reopen at lower speeds or when needed to help cool the engine compartment.
AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When traveling at speeds less than 80 km/h, the system can alert you if it detects that a front-end collision situation is imminent with a vehicle ahead you are following.It can also help reduce the collision’s severity by automatically applying hard, emergency braking if you have not already or by enhancing driver hard braking. The system may even help avoid the collision at very low speeds.
SWITCHABLE ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE
This system, standard on Premier and available on LS and LT, helps enhance traction and control on slippery or snow-covered roads. Conveniently, you can leave switchable AWD on year-round, since the rear wheels only engage when the system senses reduced traction. In FWD mode, the system disengages AWD components for greater fuel efficiency.
LANE CHANGE ALERT
Provides side-mirror alerts to help the driver avoid a moving vehicle detected in their side blind zone. Also helps detect a vehicle that is rapidly approaching their side blind zone during a lane-change maneuver.
LED TAIL LAMPS
Equinox Premier features LED tail lamps that offer crisp, ultra-bright illumination. These tail lamps are also included on LT with the available Lights and Bright Package.
PARK ASSIST SENSORS
This feature is designed to alert the driver, when in Reverse, by sounding an audible alert and providing visual indication on the Rear Vision Camera display when it detects certain stationary objects in close proximity behind the vehicle. Standard on Premier, available on LT.
CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM
An ingenious capless fuel system is something you’ll appreciate every time you fill up. Behind the fuel-filler door, a small spring-loaded door replaces the traditional screw-on gas cap.
LIFTGATE
If you’ve got your hands full, the available hands-free liftgate opens with just the gentle kicking motion of your foot. What’s more, a programmable memory height can be set for easy reach or to accommodate areas with low ceilings. Available on LT and standard on Premier.
