The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is officially coming in Spring of 2020. The all-new Trailblazer will slot in between the smaller Chevy Trax and the bigger Equinox. But it will ride on a new platform which it shares with the upcoming Buick Encore GX.

Design

Despite its similar size to the Trax, the 2021 Trailblazer shares more design cues with its Chevy Blazer bigger brother. It has similar LED daytime running lights at the top of the front bumper with high and low beam headlamps just below. The bold front grille of the Blazer is very evident on the Trailblazer especially in the red RS trim pictured. In the back, the Chevy Trailblazer shares similar taillamps but the hatch is more pronounced that the one on the Blazer.

The inside of the 2021 Trailblazer is not quite as bold as the inside of the Blazer. The Trailblazer features the same 8” touchscreen as the Equinox and will be equipped with Chevrolet’s latest infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard across all trims as will Teen Driver and OnStar. Below the infotainment are Trailblazer unique climate controls and further below are several storage options for small items and drinks.

Powertrain

Two engines will be available for buyers to choose from. A standard 1.2L turbocharged will be offered on the lower trims and a 1.3L turbocharged engine will be optional on higher trim levels of the Trailblazer. The 1.3L engine will produce 155 hp which is in-line with the power output of the current 1.4L turbo engine found in the Buick Encore.

Both the 1.2L and 1.3L engines will be mated to a continuously variable transmission but buyers can opt for a 9-speed automatic with the 1.3L engine. Front-wheel-drive will be standard with all-wheel-drive as an option. The AWD system will be similar to that found in the Blazer and Traverse in which it can be deactivated in good driving conditions (such as dry pavement) for improved fuel economy.
