All-New 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer UnveiledChevrolet Nov 23rd, 2019
The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is officially coming in Spring of 2020. The all-new Trailblazer will slot in between the smaller Chevy Trax and the bigger Equinox. But it will ride on a new platform which it shares with the upcoming Buick Encore GX.
Despite its similar size to the Trax, the 2021 Trailblazer shares more design cues with its Chevy Blazer bigger brother. It has similar LED daytime running lights at the top of the front bumper with high and low beam headlamps just below. The bold front grille of the Blazer is very evident on the Trailblazer especially in the red RS trim pictured. In the back, the Chevy Trailblazer shares similar taillamps but the hatch is more pronounced that the one on the Blazer.
The inside of the 2021 Trailblazer is not quite as bold as the inside of the Blazer. The Trailblazer features the same 8” touchscreen as the Equinox and will be equipped with Chevrolet’s latest infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard across all trims as will Teen Driver and OnStar. Below the infotainment are Trailblazer unique climate controls and further below are several storage options for small items and drinks.

Two engines will be available for buyers to choose from. A standard 1.2L turbocharged will be offered on the lower trims and a 1.3L turbocharged engine will be optional on higher trim levels of the Trailblazer. The 1.3L engine will produce 155 hp which is in-line with the power output of the current 1.4L turbo engine found in the Buick Encore.
Both the 1.2L and 1.3L engines will be mated to a continuously variable transmission but buyers can opt for a 9-speed automatic with the 1.3L engine. Front-wheel-drive will be standard with all-wheel-drive as an option. The AWD system will be similar to that found in the Blazer and Traverse in which it can be deactivated in good driving conditions (such as dry pavement) for improved fuel economy.
The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will have a long list of standard safety and driver aid features across all trim levels. These include:
- Forward collision alert
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian braking
- Auto high beam assist
- Lane keep assist with lane departure warning
- Rear vision camera
- Teen driver
- Rear seat reminder
Optional safety features include:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Rear park assist
- Lane change alert with blind zone alert
- Rear cross traffic alert
- HD rear vision camera
In addition to the full suite of safety features, the 2021 Trailblazer will also come well equipped with a host of convenience features. Most notably will be the introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In addition, the Trailblazer’s infotainment will also be able to stay connected to two devices via bluetooth simultaneously and can store up to ten devices in its memory.
Other features on the new Chevrolet Trailblazer include a hands-free liftgate, automatic climate control, heated seats, engine auto start/stop, and different drive modes including Normal, Sport, and Snow.
The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is expected to arrive in showrooms in Spring of 2020.
