Miss India-Canada 2013 to drive off in new Chevy Spark
For the first time ever, the winner of Miss India-Canada title will walk away with the keys to a brand new Chevrolet Spark.
This year’s 23rd annual show, which is being presented by Chevrolet, will be held Saturday, Aug 17, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Toronto. Brita is returning as an associate sponsor.
With nearly 23 years of glamour, the Miss India-Canada organization has continued to transform the annual gala into a unique evening that allows an affluent South Asian community to come together to celebrate their cultural heritage.
“Chevrolet is proud to support Miss India-Canada 2013. We are really looking forward to the event and further strengthening our relationship with Canada’s vibrant South Asian community,” said Rob Assimakopoulos, general director, marketing and communications, General Motors of Canada.
UK Bhangra Ambassador Jassi Sidhu will be this year’s guest of honour. The former lead singer of British Indian bhangra band B21, went solo in early 2000, where his career continued to skyrocket.
Jassi went on to sing such hits as ‘Darshan’ from the blockbuster film ‘Bend it like Beckham’. Other memorable tracks include: Agg, Pabi, Yaariya, and Ki Kehneh, to name a few with. In 2011, Jassi also sang a song for Canadian film ‘Breakaway’ which made inroads into Bollywood.

This year’s show will be telecast after the event on Zee TV Canada, the exclusive broadcast partner. Zee TV Canada also announced they will award one lucky delegate from the event the opportunity to host one of its Canadian episodes. Just as it is doing with the Miss India-Canada event, the channel is providing a platform to empower women and give them the ability to follow their dreams.
