GMC CANYON

The Canyon comes equipped with the most powerful four cylinder engine on the market. The 2.5L gasoline engine produces an impressive 200 horsepower, is capable of towing up to 3,500 lbs, and is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic.

The new 3.6L V6 gasoline engine offering comes with Active Fuel Management which shuts down two cylinders, effectively making it a 4-cylinder when cruising at speed to conserve fuel. This new engine was borrowed from the likes of GM cousin, Cadillac, and can be found in the ATS, CTS, CT6 and XT5 crossover. It produces 308 horsepower and 275 lb/ft of torque, allowing it to trailer up to 7,000 pounds with GMC’s available towing packing.

The 2.8L 4-cylinder Duramax diesel engine option is one of the most exciting aspects of the Canyon brand. It’s capable of towing up to 7,700 lbs and elevates the midsize pickup into a new realm of capability that also compliments the mindset of fuel efficiency aficionados in the Lower Mainland and all over North America. But this is no ordinary diesel - the rumbly, bumbling diesel soundtrack has been limited to subtle background noise, while the vibrations have been silenced by new counter-rotating balance shafts and hydraulic engine mounts. The Canyon can boast its “premium” truck moniker because of GMC’s dedication to perfection.
