GMC Terrain vs Nissan Rogue vs Ford Escape

2022 GMC TERRAIN

The 2022 GMC Terrain elevates the premium compact SUV with bold looks, accommodating interior and a powerful turbocharged engine. The Terrain offers greater refinement and versatility to adapt to customers’ unique needs, and it’s packed with more available advanced safety technologies than ever before.

Like it's Chevrolet Equinox counterpart, the GMC Terrain is part of a very competitive automotive segment and it has very stiff competition from two of the biggest names in the compact SUV market; the Nissan Rogue and Ford Escape.

The Nissan Rogue received a complete refresh for the 2021 model year and receives a brand new engine for the 2022 model year. This 3-cylinder is a bit more powerful than the one in the GMC Terrain as well as more fuel efficient. But it cannot tow as much as the GMC Terrain can. Also the Terrain has more headroom across both rows of seats and has more rear legroom than the Rogue.

Compared to the Ford Escape, the GMC Terrain has more rear legroom as well as more cargo capacity with the rear seats folded. But when it comes to powertrains, the GMC Terrain has no answers for the Escape's multitude of options including a powerful turbocharged 2.0L engine as well as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid offering.
