The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 just recently went through a massive refresh and now it is it’s bigger brother’s time to get a refresh as well. Scheduled to arrive in mid-to-late 2019, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will see drastic changes to the exterior, interior, and underneath the hood.

Exterior

At approximately 5-feet-and-a-bit tall, the front of the truck is the most striking front end of any pickup truck. Accented by signature LED daytime running lights and the “CHEVROLET” bar, the large grille is required to provide ample cooling to the powertrain especially when towing in hot climates.

To the side of the truck, it now features a side bed step much like the rear bumper step. It also appears to have cameras underneath the mirrors so it’s a good bet that a 360 degree camera system will be available.

Around back, the Silverado HD features the same styling cues of the 2019 Silverado 1500 along with the same power operated tailgate.

Interior

Officially no photos or details of the interior have been released at the time of writing this article but it’s a sure bet that the interior styling will be reminiscent of the current 2019 Silverado 1500. Also expect to see features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, heated front and rear seats, multiple small item storage locations throughout the cabin, and a host of safety features such as lane departure warning and forward collision alert.

Powertrain

The 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine will carryover to the new 2500 and 3500 HD Silverado. It will continue to produce 445hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. However expect an increase in towing capabilities thanks to the stiffened frame. The Duramax diesel will be mated to a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.

A new 6.6L gasoline V8 will replace the current 6.0L V8 gasoline engine but no official specifications have been announced at the time of this article’s writing.

More info will be available during the truck’s official debut at the 2019 Chicago auto show in February.
