Chevrolet Teases Sixth Generation CamaroApr 14th, 2015
Ahead of its global debut on May 16, Chevy has been teasing information and images from the upcoming sixth generation Camaro promising to deliver the best Camaro ever made. Here is what we know so far!
Chevy teased us with a clip of the sixth gen exhaust and it sounds amazing! Click here to have a listen.
New from the ground up
Chevrolet has said that every piece of the car (which they are calling CamaroSix) has been refined in the name of performance.
Light Weight Performance
To improve performance, handling and fuel efficiency, the CamaroSix is more rigid and much lighter than the previous model. Rough estimates have the car dropping 200 pounds in the redesign.
The Camaro is switching from the full-sized Holden Zeta platform to the Alpha platform used in the Cadillac ATS and CTS.
Possible Corvette Engine
Rumors are circulating that the Camaro will source the 6.2L V8 engine from the Corvette Stingray which puts our a hefty 460 horsepower!
GM executives have thrown down the gauntlet saying that the next generation Camaro has nothing on the new Ford Mustang. Having now driven both, they say the new Chevy blows the Ford out of the water.
New Brakes and Tires
Obviously, the new car will have updated brakes and tires, but recently released images show the next gen will specifically have Brembo brakes and run-flat Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 performance tires.
And so far, that’s about all we know. Each week leading up to the reveal, Chevrolet is giving us more teaser pictures and information. If you are as excited as we are, you can follow along at http://www.chevrolet.com/2016-camaro/. As soon as the CamaroSix breaks, we will share it here!
