The Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system - which first launched in Cadillac models - will now make its way down to other brands in the GM umbrella. Late model 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup trucks will be the first to receive this hands-free technology.

The 2022 Sierra 1500 will have the latest version of Super Cruise and it will also have the ability to work with a trailer. A great update for those that consistently have long hauls on highways. This system works on over 200,000 miles of highways throughout the USA & Canada.

Super Cruise utilizes a driver attention system and precision LiDAR map data in addition to cameras, sensors, & GPS to provide hands-free driving. If the system detects that the driver is no longer paying attention to the road for too long of a period, the steering wheel light bar will prompt the driver to return their attention to the road.

The teaser image that GM provided is also a glimpse of the full digital instrument cluster of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The truck is due for a mid-cycle update which will include some exterior changes and a lot of interior changes after criticism that the current Sierra & Silverado pickup trucks have a bland & dated looking interior.
