2021 Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban Revealed
The industry’s best-selling full size SUVs are getting a complete overhaul for the 2021 model year. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban feature all-new interior and exterior designs, more cargo and passenger capacity, and new technologies to lead Chevy into the next decade.
Design
Six distinctive trim levels are offered to customers. They range from the base LS trim to the off-road ready Z71 to the ultra luxurious High Country trim, each with their own distinctive styling cues.
Standard LED headlamps and taillamps accent the front and rear of the new SUVs with a range of 18 to 22-inch wheels are available between the LS and High Country trims. The new RST trim is designed to emphasize the street-inspired character of the Tahoe & Suburban with 22-inch wheels, black ice finish grille, and black-chrome exterior trim.
But if you want to take your Tahoe or Suburban off the beaten path, the Z71 is the choice for you. The front fascia signals ruggedness with a very unique bumper that was designed to allow for better approach angles. 4WD is standard as is a 2-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, front skid plate, and red tow recovery hooks.
But for those wanting all available features and ultimate luxury, the Premier and High Country trims are the ones to go for. These trims feature more exterior chrome accents than other trims along with 20 or 22-inch wheels. They are both also available with quad exhaust pipes when equipped with a gasoline engine. The High Country trim also takes some inspiration from the latest generation of Silverado trucks with bronze accents in the grille to further set it apart from other Tahoe and Suburban trims.

Performance
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban are available with 3 engine choices and significant updates to the suspension with the most advanced system in the segment.
The 5.3L V8 and 6.2L V8 engines transfer over to the new generation Tahoe and Suburban from the last generation SUVs. Power remains the same at 355 hp and 420 hp respectively while technologies such as Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM), direct injection, and variable valve timing aid in improving the fuel efficiency of these engines.
The third engine option that is available on all models except the Z71 is the all-new 3.0L Duramax inline-6 turbo-diesel that was first introduced on the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The Duramax is rated at 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque and is expected to give the new Chevy Tahoe & Suburban the highest fuel economy figures in the segment.
But while power is good and all, there has to be a way to put it down to the ground. The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban feature a new multilink independent rear suspension that will aid in on and off road performance as well as improving ride comfort for the occupants. In addition, High Country and Z71 trims are available with air suspension. The system can raise or lower the entire vehicle depending on what road surface you’re on or when parked for easier entry and access. In total the new air suspension can raise or lower the SUVs by a total of 4-inches.
Safety & Convenience Features
Safety is one of the biggest purchasing factors for any family which is why Chevrolet is providing a number of standard safety features on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban. Forward emergency automatic braking, collision alert, pedestrian braking, and HD rear vision camera are some of the standard safety features that every model of the Tahoe and Suburban will have. Other available safety features include surround vision, rear pedestrian alert, front and rear park assist, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, and a 15-inch diagonal heads-up display.
While the list of safety features is quite lengthy, the list of convenience features is even longer. A 10-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard across all trim levels. An 8-inch driver instrument display is standard on Premier and High Country trims while rear occupants can enjoy entertainment on a pair of new 12.6-inch LCD touchscreens.
Other available features include wireless phone charging with charger cooling, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, automatic climate control, 4G LTE with WiFi, push button start, remote start, panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, and a max trailering package.
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban SUVs will be produced in Arlington, Texas and are set to go on sale in mid-2020.
