2020 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Like history repeating itself, the 2020 Chevrolet Trailblazer was officially unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. Just like the SUVs of the past, the Trailblazer is the little brother to the Blazer that was introduced last year. The 2020 Trailblazer will be the replacement to the current Chevy Trax.

Much of the styling of the 2020 Chevy Trailblazer will be borrowed from the 2019 Blazer. It has similar LED daytime running lights (DRL) with low and high beam headlamps below. The front fascia is similar with the same large grille that is reminiscent of the Camaro.

Around the side, it features an inverted upper door line from the Blazer and more black plastic cladding. This is to show a more rugged but also urban design. The particular trim that Chevy showed is the Redline which adds red accents as well as 17” black alloy wheels.

Like the upcoming 2020 Buick Encore, the 2020 Chevrolet Trailblazer will utilize the new VSS-S platform. This VSS-S platform is one of four GM plans to use on upcoming vehicles between now and 2025. The new platforms will allow GM to simplify engineering and manufacturing processes in order to reduce costs. It will also usher in hybridization and electrification options for vehicles that utilize the new platforms.

Next to the all-new Trailblazer, GM also unveiled the Chevrolet Tracker. It will be built on the global emerging markets (GEM) architecture which is a low-cost platform aimed at emerging markets. However this means that it will not be available here in North America.

At the time of writing this article, GM had not announced any powertrain configurations or when the 2020 Chevy Trailblazer will be hitting dealerships.
