2016 Chevrolet Equinox Photos and Details
The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show last week and will offer buys new features and a refreshed design when it hits dealer lots later this fall. Since the second generation was introduced, it has been a sales leader for Chevrolet, setting sales records year after year. Buyers appreciate the roomy second row with sliding rear seat, available Front or All Wheel Drive and easy to use infotainment system from Chevrolet MyLink. For 2016 all of those features remain, with new enhancements. Here is what you need to know about the 2016 model!
Refreshed Exterior:
Up front you will notice a new dual-port grille, which mimics the design of other Chevrolet vehicles. Projector beam headlamps, reflector style daytime running lamps and new fog lamps give the front an updated appearance. There is a revised lower front fascia, new rims and an updated rear end with dual element taillights and available dual chrome exhaust tips.
Interior Update:
Once inside the Equinox, drivers and passengers will find a revised interior with a new chrome accented shifter with revised buttons, standard colour touch screen with rearview camera, a new storage shelf and graphics for the buttons and switches. Drivers of the L and LS models will also notice new interior fabrics as well as some new interior colours.
Safety Upgrades:
To keep you and your passengers safe while travelling in the Equinox, Chevrolet has carried over the standard features of four wheel disc brakes and StabiliTrak electronic stability control. You will also find head-curtain airbags, front airbags and pelvic seat mounted airbags standard for 2016. To make reversing safer, all Equinoxes come with a backup camera. Optional Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning systems also help to keep you safe on the road.
Technology:
As with all GM models, the 2016 Equinox will come with OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi which turns your vehicle into a mobile, password protected hotspot. This allows you to stay connected while on the go and allows passengers to use their technology while you are zipping down the highway. The 7 inch touch screen infotainment system works great for utilizing the MyLink system and syncing your smartphones to be used. Upscale models add connectivity for apps, including Satellite radio, Pandora and Stitcher.
For buyers looking for a roomy and well equipped SUV that won’t break the bank, the Equinox is a smart choice. It has been a top safety pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and that is likely not to change for 2016.
